Day Seven: 2/13/08:
On the seventh day, I looked at the ‘American Clothes’ for a khaki skirt. However, we (Adela and I) were not successful. Not much happened this day. I took a micro (public bus) back home after Adela showed me where the correo was, etc. We also had some YUMMY fresh orange juice!!!!
Once I arrived back home, I pretty much did nothing! Hehe
Day Eight: 2/14/08:
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
Today, I just hung out with Wara after school, and we bought khaki fabric for my uniform. Then, we headed to a tailor from church and I got sized. That was definitely a first for me! :)That’s pretty much it for that day!:)
Day Nine: 2/15/08:
I thought I didn’t have any bolivianos left, so I had to take a taxi to school…of course once I got in the taxi I realized I had some smaller bills after all! No matter. After school, I went to a fitting for my uniforms and then got lost trying to find my way back home. I ended up at the Cancha again! :) I eventually found the bus terminal and went home. I had about a twenty minute nap and then went to Eli’s house for a sleepover! There we watched most of License to Wed and all of Sydney White (Siempre Blancanieve). Luckily for me we watched them in English with Spanish subtitles!
We made some homemade pizza with ham and green olives!! YUM!!!!
Day Ten: 2/16/08:
Yesterday (Saturday), we had a teacher’s retreat at a beautiful hotel near Lago Langostura (sp?). I woke up around 6:20 am, exhausted at Eli’s house, and I did not sleep too well either, my hip was so sore from sleeping! We took two buses from the Capilla and had breakfast there. Then, we went to a ‘meeting room’ that was actually the lobby and was covered in curtains to make it look like a room! Haha. So, there we had a few worship songs, and then Pastor Roger talked about Leadership and the sort. We ate lunch, hung out for about an hour just chillaxin’ around the hotel, etc. We then returned to the ‘meeting room’ and moved our chairs into a circle to have a group discussion about school and such. There was some teacher drama, and then we left around 6p.m. It was quite a long day.
When we returned to the Capilla, I had to wait for Mrs. Caero to finish up choir practice, and then she drove me home. While I was there, I went to look for this one bench that my6 granddad had painted when he visited us years ago…but sadly it was no longer there! :(
Day Eleven: 2/17/08:
Second week at Church. Wara and I were late! We were both so tired, and had overslept. However, it was fine because it seemed like when we got there worship was just ending, so we got to get there when pastor started preaching. I was so excited all service because we had been planning on going out to eat saltenas (note the missing accent on the ‘n’)<.small>, but we got out too late and no places would have had any good saltenas left! :( I was so sad! Then, to make it even worse…they told me I’d have to wait until Saturday! Ay Ay AY!!!!! Que triste!!!!! VERY SAD DAY!
Wara and I went to eat with the Meruvias again. This time we went to ‘Churasqueria Tunari’ and had some yummy steak, fries, yuca, and ‘arroz con queso’ (rice with cheese)! YUMMY!
I also picked up my khaki skirt, pants, and my green pants from the tailor! It cost B. 130 (roughly $17!)
Well, that’s pretty much it for now.
Oh yeah, and by the way, I have heard SO many people always mention ‘Kissells’, talking about how no one was ever like my dad and no teacher has ever been like my mom. Wow! Kinda weird sometimes when I keep hearing how great they were and especially when they compare my parents to the current teachers and how the school is run. WEIRD!
Also: Mosquitoes are REALLY bad here! They absolutely love me! Yikes!! Hehe
Love,
Emily:)
